Frequently Asked Questions
How much will I save with bathtub refinishing instead of replacing it?
Refinishing your bathtub with Renew Kitchen & Bath will save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars over bathtub replacement. While a brand new bathtub may only cost $300, there can often be several hidden costs to replacement such as removal and disposal cost, plumbing alterations, and tile work. These costs add up, and you can easily end up spending nearly $3,500 to replace your bath tub.
How long will it take to refinish my bathtub or shower?
Our refinishing process typically only takes 6-7 hours to complete. Your bathtub will usually be ready to use the next morning, depending on factors like ambient temperatures and humidity. Why wait days or even weeks for a contractor to replace your bathtub when you can get the same results in only a day?
How long will my bathtub last?
The durability of a bathtub refinished by Renew Kitchen & Bath is very similar to that of a brand new bathtub. If properly maintained and no abrasive chemicals or pads are used for cleaning, it will last you many years just as a brand new bathtub would.
How do I care for and clean my refinished bathtub?
Refinished bathtubs are often easier to clean than the original product. Make sure you use mild, non-abrasive cleaning products and pads. Just as with a new bathtub, the finish or shine can be dulled by abrasive cleaners.
What kind of coating do you use?
We now use a Greener Coating! It's a VOC compliant acrylic polyurethane coating that's much better and safer for the environment. It's strength and durability are unmatched for refinishing bathtubs, tile, sinks and countertops. Not only is the paint we use legal and compliant with the government's stricter volatile organic compound regulation, there is no other coating in the refinishing industry that can compare with it's performance. Renew Kitchen & Bath is pleased to make it available to all of our customers.
Will my refinished bathtub look like it has been painted?
This is a common myth in the bathtub refinishing industry. Your bathtub will not look like it was painted, since the material we use is more like a coating than a paint. In fact, our technicians pride themselves on the fact that it is quite difficult for an untrained eye to tell the difference between a brand new bathtub and one that has been refinished by Renew Kitchen & Bath.
Will my bathtub smell like it's been refinished?
One of the advantages to using our greener coating is that it's a lower odor coating than most used in the industry today. This means that any lingering smell will disappear much faster. Our technicians come equipped with full ventilation systems to expunge the fumes that do occur naturally with the use of solvents. Although you may notice a slight odor after we are finished, this typically is gone in a few hours.
What other surfaces does Renew Kitchen & Bath refinish?
We refinish porcelain, fiberglass, tile and acrylic. Besides bathtubs, we also refinish showers, shower pans, sinks and countertops for kitchen and bath. We also refinish jetted and jacuzzi tubs, diving boards and lots more!
Will refinishing work on my countertops?
Our refinishing process works on a variety of countertop surfaces, including laminates, formica, tile, and cultured marble. It also saves you money; with our Flint Stone™ faux stone finishing system, you can have that natural-stone look for a fraction of the cost of actual stone!
Do you offer packages?

What colors does Renew Kitchen & Bath offer?
Renew Kitchen & Bath offers a wide variety of factory ready colors. You can also match or create any custom color you want.
What is the difference between bathtub refinishing and bathtub liners?
Unlike our bathtub refinishing process, which is done on-site and in one day, bathtub liners are manufactured off-site as one-piece, heat-molded units that are inserted over your original bathtub or shower surface and then "glued" in place with adhesive caulk. Bathtub liners leave spaces between the liner and the original surface where moisture can condense and stagnate. Cracks in the liner can occur, releasing moisture and lead to unsanitary conditions. With our refinishing process, the new finish, through a molecular bonding action, becomes a permanent part of the old fixture.
How does Renew Kitchen & Bath's refinishing process differ from other competitors?
Some refinishing companies take "short cuts" and like to skip the etching and priming stages of the refinishing process. Industry wide studies and laboratory testing have shown that etching is a critical step in the process in order to maximize adhesion and give the finished product the longest-lasting durability possible. Plus, our process has the most proven track record in the industry.
Can you refinish a tub that has been already refinished?
Yes, a tub that has been refinished before can be refinished again. Renew Kitchen & Bath will strip and clean the tub before we refinish it so the old coatings are removed.
